Blue Jays News · In Memory_ Ben Bennett

Today, USD 475 and the Junction City Community  lost a long time teacher, coach, friend and supporter…..Ben Bennett (77).  Coach Bennett was a staple in the Junction City community for over 5 decades and provided countless services to our school district and community.  In USD 475 he served as a government teacher, head wrestling coach and assistant football coach at Junction City High School.

Ben directed the Blue Jays wrestling team to 3 state titles, 1 2nd place finish, 1 3rd place finish,  6 regional titles and 7 League Championships.  He personally coached 27 individual wrestlers to individual state titles.  Bennett was named Kansas Wrestling Coach of the Year three times and is a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.  As an assistant football coach he was an important factor on Al Simpler’s football staff and the Simpler family extends their sincere condolences to Peggy, Phyllis and Buck.

Ben was a proud Blue Jay and his support will be tremendously missed.  Our thought and prayers go out to his wife Peggy and the entire Bennett family.
