Practice Guidelines

Practice Guidelines

  1. Be on time to practice and meets.
  2. Weight in and out every day. Record your weight.
  3. Report any injury, no matter how insignificant to the coach.
  4. Disrespectful/inappropriate language is not acceptable.
  5. We are in practice for a reason. If you don’t want to give 100%, do not take up our team’s valuable time.
  6. You are responsible for keeping your workout clothes and wrestling shoes clean. Wash them regularly.
  7. An unexcused absence will result in conditioning drills to make up for the time lost. The 3rd unexcused absence will result in dismissal from the team.
  8. Inform one of the coaches PERSONALLY if you are going to miss practice. If you are sick at home, call school and leave a message for one of the coaches that morning.
  9. Improve your abilities at wrestling with superior teammates. Change partners frequently to experience different styles. Always challenge yourself to improve.
  10. BE MENTALLY TOUGH! We know the sacrifice it takes to be a great wrestler. Outsiders can’t understand, so don’t complain or whine to them about your sacrifices. Talk to teammates or coaches when it’s tough.
  11. As a JCHS wrestler, you are part of a family and have responsibilities to yourself and your team. All families eventually have problems and the problems must be worked out. Small problems can develop into large, complicated problems if not communicated to coaches and/or teammates.
  12. Everyone is important to our TEAM. Many times the most important wrestler in a weight class is not the varsity wrestler, but the wrestler pushing the top man, and providing encouragement and challenge for the rest of the team.
  13. Academics are your first priority. You are hurting yourself and letting the team down if you are ineligible. If you are having problems in class, let a coach know you are working with that teacher. Make sure you get a pass and tell a coach, no action will be taken.
